The Kremlin continues to flex its energy related muscles. Royal Dutch Shell has "agreed" to reduce its stake in the troubled Sakhalin-2 gas project in Siberia under fierce political pressure. The Russian state energy company, Gazprom, will take up over 50% of Shell's 55% stake. The pressure from the Kremlin in unrelenting however as they continue to threaten legal action and pursue damage claims of up to 30 billion USD for Shell's alleged violation of environmental regulations.
