That is sort of the argument made by British Attorney General Lord Goldsmith today when he suggested that British civilian and military lives were at "risk...if the case [against BAE Systems] had gone ahead". The comment was in response to a written question posed by Lib Dem leader Sir Menzies Campbell. However his response did not include the claim, put forward previously by the government, that MI5 and MI6 agree with the government's position on this as, well, they don't.
