The entry of Bulgaria and Romania into the European Union as of 1 January has led to an unwelcome development. Under EU rules at least nineteen MEPs from five different countries are required to form a group or caucus in the Parliament. The inclusion of one MEP from Bulgaria's extremist Ataka Party and five from Romania's right wing, nationalist Greater Romania Party will mean that there are sufficient potential members to form a far right grouping. I do not believe that any UK parties are to be included in this illustrious conclave.
I can hardly wait for the policy initiatives that they will wish to push forward. /div>
