Not a drop to drink

The next war in the Middle East is as likely to be fought over water as over religion, ethnicity or oil. Much of the water that Israel uses, and it uses a lot, comes from the occupied territories, southern Lebanon or the disputed Golan heights. The occupied Palestinian territories are already being starved of water, perhaps as policy. As there is nothing more primal to human survival than water it can only be a matter of time before access to water in the region leads to a conflagration.

By the way did you know that the word Sharia (as in law) means "the clear, well-trodden path to water" in Arabic and that the first aspects of Sharia law probably dealt with access and / or rights to water?
