R.I.P.- Eric von Schmidt

One of Bob Dylan's early inspirations, the folksinger Eric von Schmidt, has died at the age of 75. Dylan first met him in Cambridge Massachusetts where von Schmidt was a major figure on the folk scene. He recorded little since the mid seventies and has been better known in his later years as a painter rather than a muscian.

According to his Guardianobituary after reading Aldous Huxley's Doors of Perception he

"discovered he could order peyote legally by post, which made his army experience more rewarding".

Ah for the good old days.
