The year 2006 in jouralism

No matter who you believe 2006 was clearly a bad year to be a journalist.

The International Federation of Journalists reports that one hundred and fifty five were either murdered, assassinated or died of unexplained causes.

Reporters sans frontières puts forward the lower number of one hundred and thirteen journalists or media assistants killed last year. In addition they report that eight hundred and seventy one were arrested, over fourteen hundred were physically assaulted or threatened, fifty six were kidnapped and over 900 outlets were censored.

We should all take a minute and reflect on the sacrifices these brave men and women make on our behalf and on behalf of freedom and democracy. Mr. Bush, these folks are really promoting the "freedom agenda, more often than not in defiance of you rather than in your defence.
