I stumbled on this story on one of my favourite websites, Water Technology Online.
Student Kyleray Katherman, a 13 year-old student at the Oregon Coast Technology School, didn't like the ban on bottled water that the school had imposed so she thought she'd see what she could do about. She compared samples of water from the drinking fountains and from under the rim of a school toilet and found that the toilet water was cleaner.
She didn't manage to have the bottled water ban overturned though as administrators simply repaired the drinking fountains.
