Gone-zo watch (day 74)

Another weekend is upon us and US Attorney General and Bush succubus Alberto "Gone-zo" Gonzales is still US Attorney General and key Bush succubus. I don't know how much more of this I can take. The man is a disgrace and an embarrassment. As the highest legal official in the land his job has a set of unique and special requirements and obligations. He, despite the protestations of his boss, has absolutely none of these; aucun, keine, niets, nessuno, ningunos. Got it? Even in radical hotspot Alaska they have taken to referring to him as a buffoon.

Last night saw David Beckham's triumphant return to the England side as he set up the only England goal in the friendly against Brazil at the new Wembley. The match ended in a draw after Brazil managed a last gasp equaliser. This leaves the other contestant for the runner up prize in the first annual Yank in London who will get sacked first competition, England football coach Steve "I've Never Really Coached a Winning Side and It Doesn't Look Like I'm Going to Start Now" McClaren anxiously awaiting the more important European qualifier next week against Estonia in Tallinn. He will have Beckham available for the match, in which a loss or even a draw could see McClaren sacked, but he will be without the mercurial talents of Wayne Rooney who is suspended.

There's still everything to play for!

(To be continued...)
