The good folks over at the publishers of the American Heritage Dictionary have come up with a list of 100 words that every American high school graduate should know. Looking at the list I reckon that our President would be lucky to scrape by with a passing grade. I give a sampling of the words that I am pretty certain he could not provide an acceptable definition for:
abjure
bowdlerize
circumlocution
deleterious
evanescent
fiduciary
gamete - if only because he would confuse one with a fully fledged human being
incontrovertible
vacuous
quasar
quotidian
obsequious
