The state of Kano in Nigeria has filed a 7 billion USD lawsuit against pharmaceutical giant Pfizer claiming that company used 200 Nigerian children as human guinea pigs in 1996 by giving them an untested drug called Trovan Floxacin without any government authorisation. The testing came when Pfizer was "helping" the World Health Organisation fight an outbreak of measles, cholera and meningitis. Subsequent problems with the drug have led local people to avoid inoculations for their children.
