We may as well get used to this

The US Supreme Court handed down a ruling this week which severely restricts the rights of workers to sue over discriminatory pay. The finding, written by Bush's most recent über-Conservative appointment to the court Samuel Alito, by strictly interpreting a 180 day time frame on suits and "reasons" that it applies to the act of discrimination rather than to the knowledge of the discrimination on the part of the plaintiff. The ruling heavily favours the business community over workers and I think that we will find over time that this bias of the court will apply to consumers as well.

No matter who is the next President the Decider(TM) has been able to leave his mark on the court by appointing right wing justices who are young, in SCOTUS terms anyway, and will be on the court for years to come. I think we will find that the state of play will get much worse before it gets better.
