Tony Blair is once again saying a resounding "No" to calls for a probe into the dealings of BAE Systems after sensational claims of £1 billion in secret payments to Saudi Arabia's Prince Bandar were published in today's Guardian. These are St. Tony's comments on the matter:
"This investigation, if it had gone ahead, would have involved the most serious allegations and investigation being made of the Saudi royal family and my job is to give advice as to whether that is a sensible thing in circumstances where I don’t believe the investigation would have led to anywhere except to the complete wreckage of a vital interest to our country."
I think that in this case at least the soon-to-be-ex Prime Minister is using "our country" to mean "me".
