A study released by Handicap International, a UK based charitable organisation, says that the impact of cluster munitions, still in use by both the British and American armed forces, is much greater than previously believed and that hundreds of millions of people have to live in areas blighted with unexploded bomblets. As most of the affected land is in poor areas of developing countries the casualty figures, believed to be 10,000 to 15,000 over the past few years, are almost certainly understated.
