Every three hours

Guardian journalist Gary Younge has a piece today about the statistics relating to gun deaths for the under 19s in America. On average there are eight a day; eight a day. Still the carnage continues as effective gun control has become more or less impossible in the face of the campaign of lies and distortions so thoughtfully brought to us by the National Rifle Association and their legions of single issue voters. By the time I go to bed tonight there will be three more dead, at least.

This is one aspect of America that is absolutely impossible to explain to the British and other Europeans. I can't even explain it to myself.
