Bromley Borough’s most famous landmark, Down House, the home at which Charles Darwin did much of his writing has been withdrawn from consideration as a World Heritage Site in a dispute over whether it is part of the world's scientific heritage or just a tourist attraction. I suspect that an under-handed campaign by American creationists is at fault.
If Down House is not subsequently resubmitted by the government perhaps, in order to placate those of us who demand that Bromley deserves a place in World History, they might consider submitting Thomas Crapper's grave in its place. It would probably be too much of a stretch to submit Prince Kropotkin's house given that anarchists are not exactly "flavour of the month" these days.
