The wrong direction

The American government, with a committed albeit unsuccessful Texas oilman at the helm, is loathe to do anything to address climate change other than to push bio-fuels. These endeavours have, coupled with bad weather, driven grain prices dramatically upwards over the past twelves months and it is going to get worse as climate change driven droughts and floods increase the stress placed on planet Earth in trying to feed the ever burgeoning population. And if more people in the third world have to go hungry that is not too large a sacrifice to ensure that there will be enough fuel in the Hummer so that Americans can drive the eight hundred metres to the nearest convenience store to purchase an incredibly expensive loaf of bread.
