Grudge match: The Royal Society v Exxon

This should be interesting. The Royal Society has challenged Exxon corporation to stop funding groups which "misrepresent the science of climate change".

The Royal Society, which was founded in 1660 by, amongst others, Christopher Wren and Robert Boyle, is Britain's premier scientific institution. This is apparently the first time that the Society has contacted a company "to challenge it's activities". A PDF of the letter is available here.

In related news Czech President Vaclav Klaus has attacked the idea that humans are affecting global warming as "a senseless fiction".

Česká republika - brought to you by Exxon.
