Everything is political with these guys

There is civilian board that is supposed to oversee government protection of personal privacy. Good luck to them with this lot in charge. They have recently published their first report but not before Karl Rove and his boys had their way with the document; making more than 200 revisions. One passage that described as "potentially problematic" the intrusions on civil liberties and privacy by government anti-terrorism programmes was deleted entirely. White House Spokesperson Dana Perino described the redactions as "standard operating procedure"; technically true in the Bush years but one of the members of the board, Lanny Davis, disagreed and has resigned as a result.
