"Clelebrating" the War of Lost Hope

This week marks the fortieth anniversary of Israel's poisoned victory in the Six Day War that has led to so much death, destruction and suffering over the past four decades. Taking a long term view the war has been a disaster for both the winning and losing sides. After all this time peace seems even more elusive and further away than it did than; the illegally occupied West Bank is dotted with illegal Jewish settlements that lay claim to the best of the arable land and most of the water resources; the Palestinians are left with the dross; terrorist attacks occur with increasingly regularity launced from both sides.

Will it take another forty years or another two thousand? In any case I doubt I shall live to see peace in Palestine.
