Dear Mr. White,
Despite being a honky I have been supportive of and involved in civil rights efforts since the late sixties. I am highly sensitive to issues of race and remain concerned at the high level of racism that continues to exist in both my native America and the United Kingdom where I live.
However I have to take you to task for your statements regarding Michael Vick and the National (American) Football League. Mr. Vick, through his admission of guilt as regards animal abuse, has revealed himself to be a seriously flawed human being who deserves no place in the public arena. This is not a black / white issue. Any team that even considers employing Mr. Vick after he serves his sentence, should any be interested, should be ashamed of themselves and their supporters should do their best to ensure that Mr. Vick does not return to his highly lucrative career. He should seek out alternative employment more suited to his skill set; perhaps he could get a job working for the National Security Agency designing "intensive interrogation techniques".
The are many issues relating to race in America that still need addressing and to which you could apply your undoubtedly considerable talents rather than wasting your time, and our, on this non-issue!
Sincerely
Yank in London
