The first military robots have hit the streets of Baghdad and should represent 100% of the American fighting force by Thursday week. I really don't understand how there can possibly be effective. After all robots operate on the basis of Asimov's Three Laws:
1) A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2) A robot must obey orders given it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3) A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
Right? Don't they? Of course I expect that the Decider(TM) and Gone-zo are hard at work, even as we speak, on an "Enhanced" version of these laws more appropriate to the post 11 September world in which everything has changed.
Not only that but they are ridiculously inexpensive, as military hardware goes, at on 230,000 USD a copy, weapons not included.
