Quick whilst no one's looking

It seems that American mercenaries are involved in operations in Somalia. The CIA, if not directing these operations, would appear to be aware of them. Emails, originally published by Africa Direct, a noted, UK based African news source, detail communications between American firms Select Armour and ATS Worldwide. As reported in The Observer "one email discussing funding of any operation sent from Farina to Ballarin states: 'We may have to re-focus our efforts in the US among the DOS [State Department] and DOD [Defence Department] to bring any forward movement to this effort.'"

Any foreign intervention in Somalia would be in violation of UN arms embargo.
