Pentagon shutting down TALON!

But before you get too excited over the news that the US Department of Defense is shutting down the database that it used to keep track of how many brownies Quaker mums in California were baking and the whereabouts of six year olds named Muhammad you should realise that the data it holds are to be transferred to the FBI AND the Pentagon plans to "create a new system — not necessarily a database" to replace TALON. I assume their thinking is that they want to ensure that no one finds out about the new project, especially from the media or the Internets!
