A British inquest has held that American forces "unlawfully killed" ITV journalist Terry Lloyd in Iraq in 2003. His family has called on the government to charge the American soldiers with murder. Lloyd was shot in the back.
After the decision was handed down the International Federation of Journalists has called on the US to explain the deaths of nineteen additional journalists in Iraq. IFJ general secretary Aidan White said "so long as the United States remains indifferent and refuses to explain the actions of its soldiers in these killings there will be speculation about deliberate targeting of media staff."
The White House did find good news in all this. It happened on a Friday and you know how they love to bury bad news on Friday afternoons.
