I remember way back in 1988 when Pat Robertson was running for president I used to say that if you killed someone and when the police asked why you did it you replied "God told me to" they would lock you up and throw away the key but if you ran for President and when the press asked why you were running you answered "God told me to" you'd get federal matching funds for your campaign.

I think that this only amplifies that thinking.
