I applaud the efforts of Bill Crozier (R - Union City) to Oklahoma's schools safer places. His brilliant idea is to require that thick, used textbooks be put under all the school desks in the state so that they may be used as shields in the case a mad gunman bursts in and starts spraying lead. Imagine how many Amish schoolgirls might have been saved if only Mr. Crozier lived in Paradise, PA rather than Union City, OK.
See now this is thinking "outside of the box". You don't need to ban guns. You just need to hand out textbooks. What else are books good for anyway? (I wonder if Mr. Crozier is a management consultant. If not perhaps he should consider a career change if the campaign for the legislature doesn't work out.) I will let this creative man's words speak for themselves.

"People might think it's kind of weird, crazy...It is a practical thing; it's something you can do. It might be a way to deflect those bullets until police go there."
With the negativity typical of government employees State Police Lt. Pete Norwood expressed his scepticism.
"He probably needs to take a look at some ballistics tests. There are some rifles not even Webster's Dictionary will stop."
Personally I think there are probably one or two other test they might want to ask Mr. Crozier to take.
