High anxiety

No - this post is not about the less than brilliant Mel Brooks film - it is about the way Americans feel about US foreign policy (and justifiably so in my opinion).

Public Agenda have released data on what they term their "Anxiety Indicatory".Highlights of the first survey include:
  • 83 percent are worried about the way things are going for the United States in world affairs (35 percent are worried "a lot")
  • 79 percent say the world is becoming more dangerous for the United States and the American people
  • 69 percent say the United States is doing a fair or poor job in creating a more peaceful and prosperous world
  • 64 percent say the rest of the world sees the United States negatively
  • 58 percent say U.S. relations with the rest of the world are on the wrong track

On the basis of this can anyone explain how they vote? All in all it would seem that they American people understand what the hell is going on. Now all they have to do is do something about it!
