It depends on what the meaning of "well" is

"Big" Dick Cheney exposed himself to the aggressive and incisive questioning of Rush Limbaugh. It is only due to Mr. Limbaugh's tireless refusal to accept platitudes and glib responses that we get this gem from the Vice President’s lips:

"If you look at the general overall situation, they’re doing remarkably well".

Now I have had some experience with wrestling with the dark side myself and I am a bit worried about Mr. Cheney. Whilst I am not a clinician I looked up a few things the Internets and my concern has grown worse. I think the vice-president may be exhibiting symptoms of mental illness including:

  • Confused thinking (that's obvious isn't it)
  • Long-lasting sadness or irritability (is there anyone more irritable?)
  • Social withdrawal (isn't shooting someone really just a message to "stay away"?)
  • Strong feelings of anger (this happens on the few occasions that someone actually asks him a real question)
  • Delusions or hallucinations - seeing or hearing things that are not really there (good news in Iraq for instance)
  • Denial of obvious problems (ditto!)
  • Many unexplained physical problems (it may not be unexplained but the old ticker isn't so hot is it?)
  • Abuse of drugs and/or alcohol (like having a stiff one right after you've shot someone)

I think "Big" Dick should seek immediate help. They not running the government little Wal-Mart yet are they? They still have health insurance right? He should see someone straightaway because there's no way of knowing if he'll get insurance in his next job and I doubt he would want to rely on Medicare.
