The Daily Star is not exactly known as one of the most thoughtful of British tabloid publications. So I was somewhat startled to discover that, at the last minute, they pulled from publication what was to be a new daily feature titled the Daily Fatwa which would have included a Page 3 Burqa Babes Special.
It is reported that a newsroom revolt (if the Star can be said to have a newsroom) forced the hand of the assistant editor when the editor was out of the office. The journalists were said to be afraid of "violent and dangerous reprisals from religious fanatics who may take offence at these articles" and put "staff in great jeopardy".
So not exactly a firmly grounded moral stance then.
