I'm not saying they had anything to do with it. The Republicans in Congress passed the bill prohibiting US banks from processing payments to on line gambling sites as a sop to the religious right ("Quick. If we pass this maybe they won't notice one of us is gay!") and, to a lesser extent, to big business. Nonetheless one has to think organised crime is smiling this morning dreaming about all the money flowing back into corner taprooms, newsagents and taxi firms. Do think they vote?
