Harry Potter and the War on Terror

No - that is not the title of the next book by J. K. Rowling.

It would appear that Ms. Rowling was returning to the UK from New York with the sole copy of her current manuscript when a security guard attempted to compel her to check this invaluable literary property. As she relates on official web site she eventually won the argument and was allowed to take the parcel on board. If regulations had been followed the document should have been confiscated along with all of those nasty liquids and then donated to a homeless person; paper is an excellent insulating material.

I hope that Ms. Rowling (net worth approximately £600 million) will find it in her heart to compensate the security guard should he or she be sacked for this grevious breach of security. If the guard is not sacked I assume that the Department of Homeland Security will take appropriate action perhaps spiriting the guard off to a (perfectly legal) prision in parts unknown for "questioning".

Next time she ought to consider taking the Hogwarts Express. If nothing else it must be more carbon friendly.
