In a victory for the little guy over big retailers independent crisp maker Tyrrell's Potato Chips has forced Tescos, the UK's biggest retailer, to stop selling their crisps. The owner of Tyrrell's had indicated to Tescos that he didn't want them to stock his products as he distributed through small retailers and Waitrose (which is employee owned). Tescos bought the crisps through wholesalers and was undercutting the small shop on price.
Yesterday Tesco agreed to withdraw the Tyrrell's crisps from their shelves under threat of legal action.
