Topsy turviness in British politics (part deux)

First it was ex-CND member and one time socialist Tony Blair hitching himself up to the neocon wagon train in Iraq.

Then it was David Cameroon claiming to be a liberal conservative.

Now Sir Digby Jones, former CBI director-general, will use the occasion of a speech to the Institute of Directors to attack the "special relationship" with the US.

Apparently he will say:

"We stand meekly by whilst America takes our intellectual property in military hardware, uses it and refuses to hand it back.

"We stand meekly by whilst America refuses to allow overseas airlines access to the domestic US market (by ownership or route operation) yet enjoys access to the European market.

"And why do they stand meekly by? All in the name of a so-called special relationship - some relationship when it is all one way."

At this rate I am expecting a resolution to be forthcoming from this week's TUC conference in Brighton to call for "solidarity with our brothers in the boardroom".
